Imaginary Days - The Death Quest

The reason that I TOTALLY FORGOT to do something creative last week was because I was rather busy with NaNoWriMo. This week is the same, so I thought I would offer you my prologue instead!

Prologue

I was dead for exactly twenty-four minutes and sixteen seconds. In that time, not a lot happened: babies were born, people laughed and cried, and the world kept on spinning. All the while, I was just dead.

'Nothing' is an awkward word. So long as we have things to call nothing, nothing isn't nothing, it is something. But 'nothing' is, really, the only word I can use to describe what happened to me whilst dead. My mind wasn't dark, it wasn't empty, it wasn't silent; it wasn't anything.

Twenty-four minutes and seventeen seconds after death, the dark, and the silence, and the over-whelming burning sensation in my chest all returned. I, Caitlin Hannigan, had been brought back to life.
