Something to Prove

Fashions, terrible things, hate them. I guess that's why I always look like a tramp. But, plenty of people follow them. And that's fine, because we're all different, supposedly.

In the past year, I have met so many people who do what they don't want to, or be who they're not, for the sake of fitting in; for the sake of keeping up with the fashions and 'pleasing' people.

I know people who only wear their favourite clothes in the house. People who don't eat as much as they'd like to in front of others. People who seek boyfriends, or even friends, just to prove that they can if they want to. And now, here's my astoundingly obvious question- why?

I always think that if someone is your true friend, then being your true self will be compulsory.

And it's true. So, why are there so many people who insist on trying to please the world, rather than just the people who actually mean anything? It's not even as though ninety nine point nine percent of the world actually care! It's sad that they don't care about you at all, but reassuring to know that it's safe to be yourself (unless you're secretly an axe-wielding psychopath, you should probably keep that one to yourself).

So, taking all that into account, there really isn't any need to make everyone happy. In turn, we may just make ourselves unhappy. I will spend a lot of time away from every person I know, but I will always be stuck with me....that's who I have to please.
